If you intend to record on 4k with a M50 you need to manual focus Manual focus is tough. It's hard to nailed it, every single movement is going to be transmitted to your lens and the camera will record it, having a nice IS lens is cool but without it forget it. Even with a follow focus it seems pretty dificult. I guess that the only choice is to focus previously and not touch the camera in any way.  In this video I tried to record a short clip on 4k with my Canon EOS M50 and as you are going to see. And as I said before, better forget it. I will try to record another video with a tripod and pre focus someday, stay tunned for that one.
